I also do not watch TV. I have an old set sitting in another room but have had no hook up for now over 10 years. A personal choice. TV nyet.

On Twitter yesterday it was buzzing with folks Tweeting about the Golden Globes. So much so, I tuned out and went to play some music.

Today on FaceBook I saw the opening monologue. WTF?

I had heard of Ricky Gervais but cannot remember really being aware. So, you do the logical - search, Wikipedia, some clips etc etc 

There was also this article from Gawker ...

I think RG is as funny as the next comedian. I have no problem with folks poking fun at the Sacred Cows - hell Don Rickles did it and is still doing it for years.

 RG has something obviously as he has hit shows, HBO specials and hell, hosted the Golden Globes.

That GG performance which, thank God, did not have his bit he wanted to do wearing a Hitler costume, was simply in the wrong place. He mentioned this idea on Conan

I have seen tons of stand up, I dig it. I have my faves! In fact, nothing beats doing a long drive better than a CD with a bunch of stand up. Amazing!

Anyway, nothing really offends me ... it is humour for God's sake! And if folks find certain humour offensive switch the channel, or vote with your feet.

In the case of what I saw on FB, which was on the GGs last night, I simply believe this was a perfect act for a small room with a couple of hundred folks who would be semi-loaded and would be hilarious.

On the GGs - it was awkward. Badly thought out, and in poor taste.

Like having Howard Stern MC the Miss America pageant ... Oh, hang on a minute!
