I wrote ... "So, are you gonna bark all day Lil Doggie? Or are you gonna bite?" I do feel like the character in Reservoir Dogs today. I was out at my golf course this morning. Wanted a day of practice. Couple of large buckets, lots of wedges and nine irons. Some chipping, lots of putting drills and a couple of drivers. It is all good.
About two and a half hours. Was fruitful. Fine practice, especially if you learn something. As I am about half way through my 60th year and started swinging a club at 8 years old, the 52 years of golf I have played have never been boring. Until now.
I missed the early fifties at courses when Arnold Palmer became "everyman's golfer" and brought the unwashed teeming millions to golf. It must have been horrible for regular/real golfers. Just like Tiger Woods has ruined it for the regular/real golfers who play today. Lemme define a regular golfer. To me a regular golfer does not THINK he is Tiger Woods. He/she does not DRESS like TW nor does he/she swagger, prance, preen nor sachet. Especially when most of these morons should stick to mini-putt. The regular golfer loves the game. The regular golfer enjoys the moment. The regular golfer respects other golfers and more importantly respects the course. No cell phones, no swearing, no yelling. Anyway I saw every fucking type of loogan today at my course. The moron in the all-Nike wear who couldn't hit a golf ball if his life depended on it. The big, huge, fat liar who was boasting about his 81 he shot (Wonder what the back nine score was?) The certifiable nut-case, going around scrounging butts and grabbing the errant range balls so he could practice. Sorta like the golf homeless person. Sheeeesh. I am not rich. So I play at a course that affords me value. Golf North is about 2100 a year and you get a choice of courses 4 or 5 of them are very nice to play. They are tough, interesting and scenic. If I was rich, I would probably join a private course. I have played at many and know it eliminates a certain amount of riff raff.
Riff raff to me is basically the mentally challenged that show up at non-private golf courses. They litter, they never replace divots nor repair ball marks and are so unbelievably slow on the course, they talk on their cell phones, yell at buddies across the course and of course ALL think they are Tiger Woods. Well maybe in an other life there will be a membership for me at a Burlington, or a Brampton, or a Westmount ... or, if I say all my prayers, and NOT kill one of these ignorant bastards at my course ... Saint Georges.
